07:59 AM EST, 12/28/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Indonesia said it will lift the ban on Boeing's (BA) 737 MAX aircraft, the state news agency Antara reported on Tuesday, citing the transportation ministry.
"We have coordinated with aviation authorities and operators around the world, especially in the ASEAN," Antara quoted Novie Riyanto, the transportation ministry's director-general for civil aviation, as saying. "Several countries have allowed the operation of the 737 MAX aircraft."
The decision comes more than three years after one of the aircraft operated by domestic carrier Lion Air crashed, killing all 189 people on board.
Shares of Boeing inched 0.2% higher in recent Tuesday premarket activity.
